Focus of work
In 2021, FIT supported the Race to Zero Innovation Awards for its project “Climate Action: Race to Zero”, which awarded five young people aged 16 to 35 for sustainable transport solutions which they have created and would like to implement. This was part of a wider initiative to engage young people in climate action in the run-up to COP26 and beyond.
Impact
The awards given included:
- Olga in France founded Le Curioscope, which challenged remote workers to reduce their travel and stay in homesteads that practice regenerative agriculture and low-carbon lifestyles.
- Alpa and Happy in Tanzania engaged tourists to learn about the local wildlife and preserve its biodiversity.
- Nchambi launched Untold Story, a platform that connects urbanites with rural villagers to protect nature together and exchange between migrant and indigenous cultures.
Beyond these winners, 320 young people joined the Climate Action Community – an online, global platform for youth to connect, learn and collaborate on climate action initiatives.
