Focus of work
The Future Mobility Simulator is one part of the solution to the maths skills and awareness gap. The simulator empowers visitors to create solutions in sustainable integrated transport. Set in an exhibition highlighting the impact of climate change and the role of mathematics in tackling these societal problems, this exhibit focuses on the decisions that are needed to make real lasting change in our transport, and their consequences. The exhibit allows people to learn for themselves what changes they need to ask of the policy makers and their representatives.
In the UK and Germany over 100, 000 people will interact with the Future Mobility Simulator.
The exhibit raises awareness of the vital role of maths in the fight against climate change. Those who wish to join the fight against climate change and implement integrated transport solutions need to have the right (mathematical) skill set to do so. This exhibit will change attitudes to maths and put the power to act in the hands of participants.
