Focus of work
Oxford Travel Options is a new website to help all people who live in, work in or visit Oxford to travel sustainably. It also assists organisations with operations in Oxford to support their employees in reducing car use.
The website provides a focal point for accessing the huge variety of resources and services Oxford can offer in support of sustainable travel. This information was previously not found in one centralised place, making it harder for people to travel sustainably.
Oxford Travel Options aims to help remove one in four car trips in the city by 2030.
The website provides:
- Signposting, such as to adult cycle training, information about bus season tickets, and journey planners
- Testimonies from a range of people across the city
- Advice to employers.
The FIT grant pays for management of the website by Low Carbon Oxford North – a local
residents’ group – and the Zero Carbon Oxfordshire Partnership – a group of
Oxfordshire businesses.

Impact
The Oxford Travel Options website offers vital support to people adjusting their lives to new travel conditions. The website helps to contribute to reduced congestion, cleaner air, lower carbon emissions, and safer active travel to benefit everyone living in or around Oxford.
The Oxford Travel Options website can be readily adapted to other areas. Low Carbon Oxford North are keen to share their experience of the project as it develops. They invite other groups to use the site’s structure as a template for more sustainable travel websites.
