Focus of work

This project from Possible called for the implementation of controlled parking zones in every urban council across the UK, with an annually-decreasing limit on the number of permits issued to private cars, and a “car-free as a starting point” policy for new housing developments so that no new permits are issued (with exceptions).

Impact

Parking action tool: Possible transformed an existing parking policy resource into a new public tool to show how councils can and should reduce car trips, traffic and ownership. Updating the Campaign for Rural England’s (CPRE) parking policy assessment tool, the new resource has been used nationally to assess local authority parking policies.

Parking action map: Possible also launched an interactive parking action map that assesses the parking policies of all 32 London boroughs.
