Focus of work
The Pedal to the Pitch project aims to encourage football fans to walk, wheel and cycle to games. They will work with clubs and fans to find greener, cleaner and more enjoyable ways to travel to football matches. Using alternative travel, they plan safe routes, lead rides and walks, and work with fan groups to change supporters’ behaviour.
Impact
Working with supporters’ groups and clubs, Pedal to the Pitch plans to lead a series of activations across the country, running led rides, organising creative walks, and ensuring accessible routes are available to fans. They want to develop a network of football fans who can continue running events and encourage fellow fans to change their behaviour. By working with football to change how to travel to matches, they will be able to not only help supporters become more sustainable, but also create a healthier and friendly environment for communities who live near stadia.
