POD is a car share scheme launched in the Upper Calder Valley in February 2025. Operating with five hybrid cars based in Hebden Bridge and Todmorden, POD offers a vital alternative to private car ownership in this semi-rural area with fairly limited public transport.
Impact
FIT funding enabled POD access to capital to appoint a scheme manager in January 2025, who was able to set up the joining process for new users. POD is now a fully operational car share service, and there has already been feedback from many users that they are foregoing buying a new car to join POD.
