Focus of work
Politics or political leadership can sometimes be cited by transport professionals as reasons why specific policies or transport initiatives are not progressed. This work seeks to understand the political decision making process in relation to transport policies specifically at a variety of levels, and the role that it plays alongside technical work to set the transport policy agenda and funding priorities in the UK. This will primarily be based on qualitative study with interviews.
Impact
This project will seek to:
- understand how policy priorities and decisions relating to transport are made at a political level
- develop recommendations or tools to assist transport professionals in understanding political decision making and its impacts on transport policy.
