Small grants

Apply for funding from FIT

In 2024/25, FIT’s funding focus continues to be traffic reduction. FIT provides small grants of maximum £2,000 to support the running costs of local campaigns and grassroots groups or networks that are working to boost sustainable transport and tackle climate change.

The local groups we fund could, for example, be campaigning for better local bus or coach services; integrated public transport; public-transport-friendly residential, business or leisure developments; or safe and attractive infrastructure for walking and cycling.

Running costs might include travel expenses, events organisation, postage, or the design and printing of promotional materials. FIT’s small grants are aimed at groups run entirely or predominantly by volunteers.

Please note, the small grants programme is for operational costs. We do not fund capital costs such as the purchase of minibuses, bikes, or bike sheds, or associated minibus or bike equipment.

We also do not fund community minibus excursions, or bus/coach trips.

Application process

Please complete and submit the application form below. This will be reviewed by our Grants Manager. Some proposals may be turned down if they do not meet our key criteria, or more detail may be requested.

Suitable proposals will then be forwarded to trustees. There are no deadlines as decisions are made by trustees on a rolling basis. We hope to make a decision within two weeks of application.
